There are more to Melton Engineering and Homebuilders homes than 4 green stars.
Modular homebuilding has been around for three decades in other parts of our nation. There were 36,000 modular homes built in 2002 in the upper Midwest and the Northeast. That is 36,000 homes like are shown in the Modular Links page in the General Info portion of this site. This is a very significant industry. The Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation, (the agency that controls modular home building) tells me that between 1989 and 2002 there have only been about 1000 modular buildings built under the IHB Act in Texas. Most of these were not typical single family residences that dominate the industry in other parts of the country. So this building technology relatively is brand new to Texas.
The environmental benefits of a home from Melton Engineering and Homebuilders are worthy of consideration when evaluating a home purchase. Most homebuilders advertise their homes as being green, but few include amenities in their homes and neighborhoods that are not required by building codes and local ordinances.
Our homes have numerous benefits from the manufacturing process not available to traditional stick built homes. But the home itself only partly affects the environment. Follow the next set of links to learn more about the other environmental aspects of and Indian Creek Home.
